Black Tri Tribe is a trailblazing, Black-led community wellness initiative and the UK’s first triathlon club created by and for People of Colour. We exist to redefine what participation in triathlon and movement in general looks and feels like.

Our work is grounded in the belief that everyone deserves access to health, healing and representation in sports that have historically excluded us.

From teaching essential life skills like swimming to building confidence in cycling and running, we offer more than fitness—we offer a sense of belonging. Whether you’re a non-swimmer, weekend walker, seasoned athlete or simply curious about what your body is capable of — we are here for you.

What We Do:

🖤 Water Safety & Swimming for Life
We centre swimming as a life-saving skill and an act of reclamation. With so many in our communities historically denied access to safe swimming spaces, we’re here to change that—through culturally responsive instruction, trauma-informed practice, and joy-filled sessions for all ages and levels.

🚴🏾‍♂️ Community Cycling & Confidence Building
We run inclusive group rides that are welcoming, empowering, and beginner-friendly. Whether you’re learning to cycle or looking to push your limits, our rides help you build fitness and friendship—without judgement.

🏃🏽‍♀️ Walking, Running & Accessible Movement
From couch-to-5K journeys to restorative community walks, we believe in moving together, at your pace. Our sessions support mental health, reduce isolation, and foster deeper connections to nature and each other.

🗣️ Workshops, Talks & Cultural Healing
We host powerful discussions and educational sessions on topics like body image, generational trauma, mental health, safeguarding, and movement as medicine. We believe in healing through honest conversation and shared experience.

🎽 Triathlon Training & Entry-Level Events
We host our own triathlon events—like the Brighton Tri—that are fully accessible, inclusive, and community-driven. These events break down barriers and show that we belong on the start line too.

Why We Matter

Black Tri Tribe is not just about sport—it’s about representation, empowerment, and wellbeing. We create safe, culturally affirming spaces where Black and Brown individuals can thrive in sport, in wellness, and in community. Our team has over 30 years of collective safeguarding and youth development experience, making our programmes deeply rooted in safety, care, and connection.

We’ve been proudly featured on BBC News, ITV Meridian, and recognised by organisations like British Triathlon, Active Sussex and Sporting Equals for our impact in transforming access and visibility in endurance sports.

Who It’s For

  • Black and Brown individuals and families seeking safe, inclusive wellness spaces

  • Non-swimmers wanting to learn in a judgement-free, culturally aware environment

  • Runners, walkers & cyclists of all abilities

  • Allies and organisations committed to equity and representation in sport

  • Anyone seeking joy, healing and connection through movement

Join the Movement

Ready to challenge yourself, learn new skills, and be part of a movement that matters? Whether you join a swim session, take part in your first race, or attend one of our healing workshops — you’re not just participating, you’re paving the way for others.

🖤 This is for us. By us.

Black Tri Tribe – Sponsor the Movement Where Representation Matters

Black Tri Tribe is more than a triathlon club—we are a movement reshaping endurance sport through visibility, access and culturally rooted community building. As the UK’s first Black-led triathlon CIC, we are actively dismantling systemic barriers and creating safe spaces for Black and Brown individuals to swim, cycle, and run with pride and power.

By sponsoring Black Tri Tribe, you align with a trailblazing initiative committed to equity, wellness and social transformation. Your support helps fund life-saving swim lessons, gear subsidies, inclusive races and mental health-informed programming that truly changes lives.

Representation in sport is not a “nice to have”—it’s a matter of belonging, survival, and self-worth. When communities see themselves reflected in spaces of strength and achievement, it expands what’s possible.

If your brand believes in social impact, community health and real-world change, we invite you to invest in a future where everyone belongs on the start line.
